Elmer's Candy dates back to 1855, when Christopher Henry Miller used his experience as a pastry chef to open the Miller Candy Company in New Orleans. Miller's son-in-law, Augustus Elmer eventually joined the company and the name was changed to Elmer-Miller around the turn of the century. The next and final name change occurred in 1914, after Elmer's sons joined what is now known as Elmer Candy Company. Elmer's soon increased its national presence by adding several new factories and introducing a wide variety of confections and snacks. Two of the favorite treats created during this time were Heavenly Hash Eggs in 1923 and Gold Brick Eggs in 1936. Elmer's is now the second largest heart box manufacturer in the country. Easter favorites Gold Brick, Heavenly Hash and Pecan eggs outsell national leaders five to one along the Gulf Coast.

I enjoyed Elmer's Gold Brick Eggs as a child every Easter. Loved them then and still love them. I am glad to extend this tradition to my grandson. This purchase was actually part of his birthday gift. By the way, his father also likes the equally! Keep up the good work Elmer's. It's nice to know some great things never change!

Is there an Easter candy that is any better?

As it is a unique event when these can be found here, it is much easier to order them on-line. The few times I have ordered these, they have always been received in excellent condition. To say I look forward to eating these is a vast understatement. What an annual treat! I treated my haircut lady to one of these this year and her comment? "This is the best chocolate I have ever eaten!". Need I say more? I think not.

What can I say. I grew up in Slidell, La. and we ate these candies all the time. It was great to find a place to order them since they are not available here in Texas. They have not changed and are as delicious as they always were. Thank you for still making them available.

I grew up in New Orleans but moved away. Every Easter time I missed the Elmer's Gold Brick Eggs and the only way to get them was to have my family buy some in their area and I would pick them up on a trip in to visit. I was so thrilled to find them now available online so I not only bought my husband and I a full box but also a box each for both of my sons and their families. There are many chocolates out there but there is just nothing else that can match up with the taste of an Elmer's Gold Brick Egg. Thanks so much NOLA Cajun for providing a touch of home for those of us who have moved away. Yum...Yum!!
