Bruce's Candied Yams

Bruce's Candied Yams are actually sweet potatoes marinaded in kettle simmered syrup. Yams or sweet potatoes, as most know them, are a common starch for Thanksgiving meals in New Orleans. Most common dishes include adding marshmallows and pecans on top of the yams and baking it in the oven until the marshmallows are just right. In 1928, Bruce Foods was founded in New Iberia, LA where it is still headquartered today.
